Water Space Allocation Framework

The local community uses Gunyama Park and its aquatic facilities for a range of purposes to help them reach their recreational and fitness needs.

The following framework provides an overview of regular aquatic programming that takes place across the centre.

25m Pool

  • We will have 3 lanes available to the general public at all times
  • The exception is during Water Polo bookings every Sunday 5:00pm – 8:00pm, the pool will be closed to the public
  • The indoor leisure water and 50m pool will have ample pool space during these times.

Lap Swimmers

  • Our 50m pool can be split meaning lap swimming lanes can be either 25m and/or 50m lanes.
  • Recreation Lanes -for walking and gentle exercise, no lap swimming
  • Slow Lanes - continuous lap swimming (using any stroke but continuous).
  • Medium Lanes - competitive strokes only (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke)
  • Fast Lanes – competitive strokes only (less than 50 secs a lap)
  • There will always be equivalent to 150m of water space available for the general public

Swimming Carnivals

The City of Sydney venues hold swimming carnivals on behalf of community groups such as City of Sydney Aquatic Club (COSAC) and school carnivals. When swimming carnivals are being held there will always be 2 lanes available for the general public.

Leisure Swimmers

For leisure swimmers, we will have space available where possible. The location of this space will be dependent on other activities running within the centre at the time.

Below is the lane availability for the centre during our peak times.

We wish to advise our valued members and customers that there can be changes to lap lane availability from time to time. We thank you for your understanding.

Peak pool periods
